Thirty-two songs remain in the running to take part in Germany’s National selection show: Eurovision Song Contest 2024 – Das Deutsche Finale.
A total of thirty-two songs remain in the running to take part in Germany’s selection show for Eurovision 2024. NDR received a total of 693 submissions for the Eurovision Song Contest – Das deutsche Finale 2024. 572 songs were submitted to the broadcaster in total, and 121 singers applied without a song. The broadcaster had extended its original deadline of October 5 to October 15 at the request of several creatives which resulted in an extra 50 submissions being received.
The remaining 32 songs will now be evaluated by a 20-member international jury with up to 10 being selected to take part in Eurovision Song Contest 2024 – Das Deutsche Finale. The international jury members are past members of juries at Eurovision and will be revealed after the selection has been held.
Not much is known about who or what kinds of songs have been submitted, but it has been stated by members of the Germany delegation that German-language titles had been submitted with Stefan Leidner stating up to 1/3 of the songs still in the running are performed in German.
Eurovision Song Contest – Das Deutsche Finale 2024 will be broadcast live from Berlin on Das Erste, eurovision.de, and ARD Mediathek.
Germany finished last in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, with Lord of the Lost and the song “Blood and Glitter”. The group scored 18 points across the juries and televote, marking a second consecutive last-place performance for Germany at the contest.

Germany was one of seven countries to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. The country has taken part in every contest since then, apart from in 1996 when they failed to make it through the qualifying round. To date Germany has won the contest twice. The first time was in 1982 when Nicole sang “Ein Bisschen Frieden” in Harrogate, which later became a global hit. Germany didn’t win again until 2010 when Lena sang “Satellite” in Oslo. She received 9 sets of 12 points, scoring 246 points overall.
