Fia will be representing Germany at the 21st edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, the young singer spoke to us ahead of the competition.
How has it been since winning the German selection and preparing for the competition?
“It was such an incredible time. I couldn’t really understand and realise it at first. My family and friends are so happy for me and they all support me so much. I’m really grateful for that and it means a lot to me ♥️”
This is the first time that sign language will be used at Junior Eurovision, can you tell us more about why it is important to you?
“Sign language is so important to me because it was the beginning of finding a way to communicate with my little sister Emilia. Emilia is deaf and does not speak. I’m not sure if Emilia understands me, but I try and every time she is so happy when I sing and sign. This was my intention to learn more and more songs with supporting sign language and when I realised that I was suddenly reaching and touching millions of other people I was really overwhelmed and it makes me happy. I really hope that sign language will be available to everyone at school. So that everyone has the opportunity to learn it like any other foreign language.”
You’re no stranger to the big stages, having been on The Voice Kids, what was that experience like?
“It was such an amazing experience. I really enjoyed singing and performing on a big stage and especially being together with the kids and friends from The Voice Kids and having an unforgettable time.”
What is a fact about you that not many people know?
“Sometimes I’m totally lost 😂 My teacher once said to me, because almost every day I forgot something in the classroom or somewhere else: “Fia, one day we’ll find your head in the lost and found 😅”.”

Junior Eurovision 2023
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2023 will take place at the Palais Nikaïa in Nice, France on November 26. This is the second time that France will play host to the contest, the first time being in 2021 in Paris. This year’s contest will be presented by Olivier Minne and Laury Thilleman.

Germany made their debut at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2020. They were represented by Susan with the song “Stronger with You”, scoring 66 points, finishing 12th and last. In 2021 Pauline performed “Imagine Us” and finished 17th with 61 points.
