The first eight finalists that will be competing in Sanremo Giovani 2023 on December 19 have been announced.
The Musical Commission has announced the eight acts it has chosen from auditions held yesterday in Rome. A total of 49 artists participated in live auditions in the Italian capital, with the Commission formed of Amadeus, Federica Lentini, Leonardo De Amicis and Massimo Martelli, selecting the eight finalists.
The finalists are:
- bnkr44 – “Effetti speciali”
- Clara – “Boulevard”
- Grenbaud – “Mama”
- Jacopo Sol – “Cose che non sai”
- Lor3n – “Fiore d’inverno”
- Santi Francesi – “Occhi tristi”
- Tancredi – “Perle”
- Vale – “Stronza”
The eight finalists will be joined by a further four finalists selected from Area Sanremo. The Area Sanremo finalists will be chosen at the end of this month.
The twelve competing artists will compete in the live final of Sanremo Giovani 2023 on December 19. Only the top three will be chosen to compete in the 74th edition of the Festival di Sanremo. During Sanremo Giovani, the Festival di Sanremo participants will also be revealed.

Italy debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 and has participated a total of 42 times to date. Italy returned to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011 having last participated in the contest in 1997, the country has withdrawn from the contest on a number of occasions in the past. Italy has won the contest three times, the first time being in 1964 and the latest being in 2021. Italy’s hosting of the contest in 1991 has been remembered as one of the most chaotic contests to date. Since their return in 2011 Italy has finished in the top 10 on ten occasions.
