The Ukrainian broadcaster has today released new branding for the nations selection for the Eurovision Song Contest.
“Musical DNA of the Nation” is the concept of the Ukrainian selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. The new logo incorporates the Eurovision logo, musical waves and vibrations. The concept was designed by the Promotional and Design Department of Suspilne, Vlad Khodakivskyi commented:
“Developing the idea of the “Musical DNA of the nation”, we created a modern visual style that can change its forms: emotional, dynamic and alive, just like the Eurovision show itself,”
The Head of Delegation for Ukraine, Oksana Skybinska added:
Our goal was to create a single design for the National Selection for several years. To make the Ukrainian National Team recognizable both to Ukrainians and to the international audience at first sight and first sound. That is why it was important for us to reflect the essence of this project in the design: the National Selection reveals songs in which the musical DNA of the nation is encoded, in order to present the nature of current Ukrainian music on the international music scene,”
This year, 20 participating artists will be selected and put on a longlist which will be published by November 9. The artists will need to undergo in-person auditions, determining the 10 artists that will compete in Vidbir. The finalists will be selected by November 20. An eleventh artist will be chosen by a public online vote, and the full list of finalists and the wildcard will be revealed by December 29.
Vidbir 2024 will take place in February 2024 in the form of televised concert. The jury and audience’s vote results will determine the winner and Ukraine’s representative in Malmö in May 2024.

Ukraine first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2003, when Oleksandr Ponomariov performed “Hasta la vista”. The following year Ruslana brought the country their first win with the song “Wild Dances”. It was a feat that would be replicated in 2016 by Jamala with her song “1944”. Her emotionally charged song scored a record 534 points to take victory in Stockholm. In 2017, O.Torvald represented the country on home soil with the song “Time”. The group finished in 24th place, Ukraine’s worst result at the contest to date. Kalush Orchestra gave Ukraine their third victory in 2022 with “Stefania”. Ukraine is the last remaining country with a 100% semi-final qualification record.
