🇦🇿 Azerbaijan: Live Auditions Take Place in Baku for Eurovision 2024

Live auditions for Eurovision 2024 have been held today as sixteen artists performed for a jury in Baku.

Ictimai has held the auditions round for Azerbaijan’s selection for the Eurovision Song Contest today. A total of fifteen artists performed in a studio in front of a jury which featured among its members Aysel who finished 3rd in Eurovision 2009 and Eldar and Nikki who won the Eurovision Song Contest 2011.

12 Xal reports that among the artists in the live auditions was Aisel who represented Azerbaijan at Eurovision 2018. The full list of participants according to the Azeri outlet is:

A total of 214 songs have been submitted to the Azeri selection for Eurovision 2024. Of these songs, 88 songs have been submitted by local songwriters, while the other 126 come from foreign songwriters.

TuralTuranX represented Azerbaijan at Eurovision 2023 with the song “Tell Me More”. They finished 14th in the first semi-final with 4 points, leaving Azerbaijan out of the final for the second time in history and the first time since 2018.

Eurovision 2024

Loreen won the 67th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest for Sweden with “Tattoo”. She is the first female two-time winner of the competition, having previously won the 2012 contest with “Euphoria”.

Malmö has hosted the Eurovision Song Contest twice previously. The first time was in 1992 while the most recent edition was in 2013. Eurovision 2024 will be held on May 7, 9 and 11.

The venue where Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will take place is the Malmö Arena, the second-largest indoor arena in Sweden.

Azerbaijan debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008, they were represented by Elnur & Samir with the song “Day After Day”, they finished 8th in the final. In 2011 Azerbaijan won the Eurovision Song Contest represented by Ell & Nikki and their song “Running Scared”. The song scored a total of 221 points, receiving only three sets of 12 points from Malta, Russia and Turkey. In 2018 Azerbaijan failed to qualify for the final for the first time, having previously had a 100% qualification record.
