Yle has opened submissions for professional dancers to apply to take part in the Finnish national final for Eurovision 2024.
Finland’s Eurovision national final show, Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) have called for “versatile professional dancers with strong skills in stage choreography” to apply to take part in the 2024 edition of UMK in February.
Dancers who are hired should be available for occasional rehearsals in Helsinki on separately agreed dates between December and January, as well as, more frequent rehearsals in February. UMK dancers will be compensated in accordance with guidelines set by the Finnish Trade Union for Theatre and Media (TEME).
The application for dancers for the Finnish national final close on 1st October. Those who are successful will be informed by 2nd October and will be invited for auditions which will take place on the 15th of October. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

Singer Käärijä won the UMK contest with the song “Cha Cha Cha” and represented Finland at the 67th Eurovision Song Contest, held in Liverpool. Käärijä qualified to win Semi Final 1 with 117 televote points. In the Grand Final, Käärijä placed 2nd with a total of 526 points (376 public points and 177 jury votes).

Finland first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961. They debuted alongside Spain and Yugoslavia. Finland has finished last in the contest on 10 occasions and has received ‘nul points’ three times. It wasn’t until 2006 that Finland won the Eurovision Song Contest. Lordi represented the country in Athens with the song “Hard Rock Hallelujah” scoring 292 points, a record total at the time.
