The Albanian broadcaster RTSH has launched the song submissions process for Festivali i Këngës 62.
RTSH has launched its search for songs to compete in the 62th edition of Festivali i Këngës. Submission is carried out by e-mail festivali62@rtsh.al. The deadline has not been announced.
The broadcaster also confirmed that Festivali i Këngës will once again be used as a selection for the Eurovision Song Contest.
Festivali i Këngës has been used since Albania made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 to select the nation’s entry. The competition is traditionally held in December and features Semi-Finals and a Grand Final.
Albania was represented by Albina & Familjia Kelmendi with the song “Duje” at the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest, which was held in Liverpool, last May. They performed 14th in the second semi-final and qualified in 9th place with 83 points from the public; receiving 12 points from the Rest of the World.
They then went on to perform 10th in the 2023 Grand Final, where they placed 22nd with 76 points.
Eurovision 2024
Loreen won the 67th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest for Sweden with “Tattoo”. She is the first female two-time winner of the competition, having previously won the 2012 contest with “Euphoria”.
Malmö has hosted the Eurovision Song Contest twice previously. The first time was in 1992 while the most recent edition was in 2013. Eurovision 2024 will be held on May 7, 9 and 11.
The venue where Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will take place is the Malmö Arena, the second-largest indoor arena in Sweden.

Albania made its debut at the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2004, the same year the televised semi-final was originally introduced to the competition. Albania succeeded in their first showing with Anjeza Shahini’s “The Image of You”, sailing through the semi-final in 4th place and eventually landing in a respectable 7th place at the grand final. Albania has competed in the Eurovision Song Contest every single year since its debut. Since the success in their original attempt, they have reached the grand final a further nine times. They bettered their 2004 score in 2012 with Rona Nishliu’s song “Suus” who finished the contest in fifth place with 146 points, their first time reaching the top 5 and their best placing to date.
