ERR has revealed today that submissions for Eesti Laul 2024 will be opening in mid-September.
At a press conference today, the Head of Entertainment at ERR confirmed that song submissions for Eesti Laul 2024 will open on September 15. Eesti Laul will once again be used to select the Estonian representative for the Eurovision Song Contest.
The format of Eesti Laul is set to be revamped for the 2024 edition following the decision of Tomi Rahula to step down as the Chief Producer of the contest. More details regarding the format are expected to be announced in the next couple of weeks.
Alika represented Estonia at Eurovision 2023 with “Bridges” placing 8th with 168 points. Estonia placed 5th with the juries scoring 146 points, and 19th with the public on 22 points. Estonia received 12 points from the Latvian jury.

Estonia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 alongside six other countries. At the contest in Dublin they were represented by Silvi Vrait, who finished second last scoring just 2 points. In 2001 Estonia won the Eurovision Song Contest for the only time to date. They were represented by Tanel Padar, Dave Benton & 2XL, who performed the song “Everybody” and took a surprise victory in Copenhagen. After the success of the late-90s and early 00s, Estonia failed to qualify for the final from 2004-2008. In 2009 Estonia launched a new selection show, Eesti Laul, and has since qualified for the final on nine out of fourteen attempts.
