SRF has announced that Switzerland will once again be using an internal selection to determine its entry in the Eurovision Song Contest.
The Swiss selection process for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 has been announced today. Once again the Swiss broadcasters have opted to use an internal selection, with song submissions open from August 10 to August 24. The broadcaster is looking for a ‘modern, striking song that complies with international requirements’.
All of the songs that are submitted will be assessed by editors, who will determine who will progress to the next round. The songs in this next round will go through a new addition, the Swiss audience jury and international audience juries. The audience juries will be joined by a 25-member international expert jury, the jurors are past Eurovision jurors.
At the 2023 contest, Switzerland was represented on the Eurovision stage by Remo Forrer. His ballad “Watergun” qualified for the Grand Final, eventually finishing in 20th place after scoring 92 points overall.
Eurovision 2024
Loreen won the 67th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest for Sweden with “Tattoo”. She is the first female two-time winner of the competition, having previously won the 2012 contest with “Euphoria”.
Malmö has hosted the Eurovision Song Contest twice previously. The first time was in 1992 while the most recent edition was in 2013. Eurovision 2024 will be held on May 7, 9 and 11.
The venue where Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will take place is the Malmö Arena, the second-largest indoor arena in Sweden.

Switzerland hosted the first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956, a contest that they also won. Lys Assia won the first contest with the song “Refrain”. It wasn’t until 1988 that Switzerland would win the contest again. At the contest in Dublin, it was Celine Dion with “Ne partez pas sans moi” who beat the United Kingdom to victory by just 1 point. In 2021 Switzerland finished 3rd with “Tout l’univers” by Gjon’s Tears. This was Switzerland’s first top three result since 1993.
