🇳🇱 Netherlands: Flare’s Junior Songfestival Entry “Side By Side” Released

The second of the four songs competing in Junior Songfestival 2023,  “Side by Side” has been released.

The girlband Flare has released their song which they are hoping to represent the Netherlands with in Nice this November. Jikke, Hannah & Robine will be performing “Side by Side” in the final of Junior Songfestival 2023.

The song has been written and composed by Jermain van der Bogt and Willem Laseroms. The duo has previously participated in Junior Songfestival, having wrote “Dans met jou” which represented the Netherlands at Junior Eurovision 2019 in Poland.

The four acts will be competing in the live final on September 23. The winner will represent the Netherlands in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Nice, France, on November 26.

At the 2022 contest, the Netherlands was represented by Luna with the song “La Festa”. She finished 7th scoring a total of 128 points.

The Netherlands debuted at the first edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003 and is the only country to have taken part in every edition to date. To date the country has only won the competition once. Their only victory came in 2009 when Ralf Mackenbach performed “Click Clack” scoring a total of 121 points, this was just 5 points more than runners-up Armenia and Russia. The Netherlands narrowly lost the contest in 2011 when Rachel performed “Teenager”, she lost by 5 points. The Netherlands’ worst result came in 2021 when Ayana finished in 19th place out of 19 competing countries.
