Sandra Valero will represent Spain at this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Nice, France.
Spanish broadcaster RTVE has revealed that Sandra Valero will represent the country at the 2023 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. A total of 114 applications were submitted to the broadcaster, which were whittled down to just fourteen. The fourteen singers then performed in front of a panel of experts, made up of:
- Ana María Bordas
- César Vallejo
- Miriam García Corrales
- Pablo Rodríguez
- Tony Sanchez-Ohlsson
- Rayden
- María Eizaguirre
RTVE will now work alongside Sandra to select the song they will send to the contest, which will be recorded in September.
Sandra is eleven years old and comes from Valencia. She has been singing since the age of four and enjoys acting and modelling. She has taken part in numerous television competitions, and was also part of the cast of the musical “El Guardaespaldas”.
Last year Carlos Higes represented Spain in Yerevan finishing in 6th place with a total of 137 points. Spain finished 2nd in the online vote behind the United Kingdom.

Spain first took part in the contest in 2003 and participated every year between then and 2006. In 2004, María Isabel brought Spain their only victory so far with “Antes muerta que sencilla”. After an absence of 13 years, Spain returned to the contest in 2019 with “Marte” by Melani García. Spain had finished in the top 5 up until the 2021 contest when Spain finished in 15th place.
