Ireland’s public broadcaster, RTÉ, has announced that submissions are open for the Irish entry to Eurovision 2024.
RTÉ has announced that submissions are open for the chance to represent Ireland in Eurovision 2024. It is also announced that a shortlist of artists will perform their songs on television in early 2024, from which a winner will be chosen.
RTÉ writes on their website:
“RTÉ wants to hear from contemporary performers and songwriters with the talent and ambition to compete and succeed in this highly competitive environment.”
If the Irish entry will be selected on The Late Late Show, as was the case in the last two contests, is yet to be known. Submissions are open until September 29 and can be made on the RTÉ website.
Wild Youth represented Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool with the song “We Are One”. They performed 6th in the 1st Semi Final, but did not manage to qualify to the Grand Final, finishing 12th out of 15 with a total of 10 points.

Ireland debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1965 and is currently the most successful country to have participated in the contest, winning a total of seven times. During the 1990’s Ireland was a powerhouse in the contest becoming the first country to win three years in a row from 1992 to 1994. Since 2000 Ireland has struggled in the contest having qualified from the semi-final into the final just six out of a possible 13 times. Ireland’s last top 10 result came in 2011 when Jedward finished 8th in Düsseldorf.
