The finalists that will compete to represent Georgia in Nice, France this November have been chosen.
The Semi-Final of Ranina 2023 was held this evening with five singers competing for a place in the Grand Final. Each of the five hopefuls performed for the jury, with only three acts planned to qualify for the Grand Final. However, the jury opted to qualify all five artists for next week’s Grand Final for the first time in the history of the contest.
A jury formed of three music professionals voted after each performance awarding up to 40 points each. They scored each act based on four categories: vocal, performance, artistry, and collaboration. Up to 10 points can be awarded for each category, the exact scores were not revealed.
The finalists are:
- Tako Tomashvili
- Soso Chachua
- Anastasia Berishvili
- Anastasia Vasadze
- Gabriel Lomsadze
The winner of Ranina 2023 will be determined next Saturday. The winner will be selected entirely by a jury, the jurors will follow the same scoring method as seen in the selection shows to date.
Mariam Bigvava represented Georgia at the Junior Eurovision 2022 in Yerevan, Armenia with “I Believe”. Georgia finished 3rd scoring a total of 161 points. The nation was 2nd with the jury but 12th with the public.
Junior Eurovision 2023
France won the 20th Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Yerevan with Lissandro and “Oh Maman!”. He scored a total of 203 points placing ahead of second-placed Armenia. The contest will be held in Nice on November 26.

Georgia has won the contest on three occasions, making them the country with the most victories throughout the history of the contest. Georgia debuted in JESC in 2007 with Mariam Romelashvili and her song “Odelia Ranuni”, where she placed 4th with 116 points. Their first win was just a year later in 2008, with the trio Bzikebi and their song “Bzz”. Their second win was in 2011 with the group Candy and their song “Candy Music”. Most recently in 2016, eleven-year-old Mariam Mamadashvili performed her song “Mzeo” in JESC 2016 host city Malta, and took the victory with 239 points.
Speaking of Junior Eurovision, the EBU has to do the following in addition to banning pre-recorded backing vocals:
