RTVE has today launched the Spanish selection process for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Nice, France.
Spain has opened the application window for young performers to apply to represent the country at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2023. From today until June 26, singers aged between 9 and 14 years old can apply to represent Spain. They will need to fill out a form here and submit two videos of their singing.
Once the submissions have been received they will be reviewed by a jury, with the best participants invited to a face-to-face casting round in Madrid. The in-person audition will be held at the start of July, the winner of this round will represent Spain in France.
The song that the Spanish representative will perform in Nice will be chosen by RTVE. The entire selection process follows the same format which was introduced in 2022.
Carlos Higes represented Spain in Yerevan finishing in 6th place with a total of 137 points. Spain finished 2nd in the online vote behind the United Kingdom.
Junior Eurovision 2023
France won the 20th Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Yerevan, Armenia with Lissandro and “Oh Maman!”. He scored a total of 203 points placing ahead of second-placed Armenia.
France will be hosting the Junior Eurovision Song Contest for a second time, having first hosted the contest in 2021 in the French capital of Paris.

Spain first took part in the contest in 2003 and participated every year between then and 2006. In 2004, María Isabel brought Spain their only victory so far with “Antes muerta que sencilla”. After an absence of 13 years, Spain returned to the contest in 2019 with “Marte” by Melani García. Spain had finished in the top 5 up until the 2021 contest when Spain finished in 15th place.
