SBS, the Australian national broadcaster, has announced its coverage plans for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023.
All three live shows of Eurovision 2023 will be broadcast live and on delay during prime time on SBS and SBS On Demand. The broadcast times for each show are as follows:
Live broadcasts
- Semi Final 1 – May 10 at 05:00 AEST
- Semi Final 2 – May 12 at 05:00 AEST
- Grand Final – May 14 at 05:00 AEST
Prime time broadcasts
- Semi Final 1 – May 12 at 19:30 AEST
- Semi Final 2 – May 13 at 19:30 AEST
- Grand Final – May 14 at 19:30 AEST
Myf Warhurst and Joel Creasey will provide commentary for Australian viewers. The pair have been the Australian Eurovision commentators since 2017 and have presented every edition of Eurovision: Australia Decides to date.
All Eurovision content will be available to watch on a dedicated SBS On Demand page – including the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 and backstage content and interviews. Viewers are encouraged to use the hashtag #SBSEurovision.
As Australia is celebrating 40 years since the contest was first broadcast in the country, SBS will also feature other Eurovision content across its platforms. SBS World Movies will celebrate Eurovision with a season of musical movie favourites from around the globe, including Nowhere Boy, This is Spinal Tap,and more. On SBS Food, Adam Liaw will embark on a culinary adventure around Australia with the aim of creating the ultimate Eurovision party in Destination Flavour Eurovision. SBS Audio will also provide interviews with the contestants with English and in some of the 68 languages which SBS provides content in.
Who are Voyager?
Voyager is a progressive metal band from Perth in Western Australia. The band was formed in 1999 at the University of Western Australia. The current line-up of the band consists of Daniel Estrin (vocals, keytar), Simone Dow (guitar), Scott Kay (guitar), Ashley Doodkorte (drums) and Alex Canion (bass). Daniel is the only original member of the band left in the line-up.
Voyager were internally selected to represent Australia in Eurovision 2023. They are the first band to represent Australia and the first internally selected Australian representatives since 2018. The song that Voyager will perform in Liverpool is called “Promise”. It was written and composed by all five members of the band.

Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest
Australia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015 as part of celebrations marking 60 years of the Eurovision Song Contest. The broadcaster SBS has broadcast Eurovision in Australia since 1983. Australia’s best result to date came in 2016 Australia when Dami Im, with the song “Sound of Silence,” finished in 2nd place in the final scoring 511 points, just 23 points away from victory.
