Ahead of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, we had the chance to talk to Vesna from Czechia at Eurovision In Concert in Amsterdam.

Who are Vesna?
Vesna was founded in Prague in 2016. The lineup currently consists of Patricie Fuxová (vocals/lyrics/composing), Bára Šůstková (vocals/violin), Olesya Ochepovská (keyboards), Markéta Vedralová (drummer), Tereza Čepková (bass guitar) and Tanita Yankovová (vocals). The name of the band comes from the Slavic goddess of spring. They will perform thirteenth in the first semi-final on May 9.

Czechia first competed in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007. They achieved their best result at the contest with Mikolas Josef coming 6th in Lisbon 2018 with the song “Lie to Me”. Gabriela Gunčíková took Czechia to their first final in 2016. This was their first appearance in the grand final despite competing 4 times previously. Untill 2023 the nation took part under the name Czech Republic.
