A songwriting camp for Norway’s Eurovision selection has begun in the Norwegian capital.
The Head of Delegation for Norway, Stig Karlsen, has reshared on his Instagram story that the songwriting camp for next year’s edition of Melodi Grand Prix has begun. The camp is taking place in Røverstaden, Oslo, and may see some of next year’s entries being created.
Stig also recently revealed his view that this year is Norway’s best chance to win the contest since 2009. Norway is currently the fourth favourite to win the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, its best position with the bookmakers since the 2018 contest in Lisbon, Portugal.
“Queen of Kings” has become a viral hit across many countries having accumulated nearly 29 million streams on Spotify and 133 million views in videos on TikTok since its release at the start of January.

Norway debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960 and have won the contest three times – in 1985, 1995 and 2009. The country has the dubious record of finishing last the most times, eleven in total, and have received nul points four times. Norway last won the contest in 2009 when Alexander Rybak broke all records with his song “Fairytale”. He scored 387 points in the final, receiving 16 sets of 12 points and scoring points from every country.
