๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ช Georgia: Ranina 2023 Commences on April 1

The new season of Ranina, the Georgian national selection for Junior Eurovision 2023, will commence on April 1.

The Georgian selection for this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest will commence on April 1. Ranina returns on the First Channel from 22:00 local time on April 1, with a total of ten young performers competing to represent Georgia in France.

A jury formed of three people votes after each performance awarding up to 40 points each. They score each act based on four categories: vocal, performance, artistry, and collaboration. Up to 10 points can be awarded for each category. The first show will feature five of the ten singers performing.

The participants are:

  • Anaroza โ€“ 9 years old
  • Anastasia โ€“ 9 years old
  • David โ€“ 11 years old
  • Mariam โ€“ 12 years old
  • Anastasia โ€“ 11 years old
  • Demetre โ€“ 13 years old
  • Soso โ€“ 13 years old
  • Anastasia โ€“ 11 years old
  • Gabriel โ€“ 11 years old
  • Tako โ€“ 12 years old

Mariam Bigvava represented Georgia at the Junior Eurovision 2022 in Yerevan, Armenia with โ€œI Believeโ€. Georgia finished 3rd scoring a total of 161 points. The nation was 2nd with the jury but 12th with the public.

Junior Eurovision 2023

France won the 20th Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Yerevan with Lissandro and โ€œOh Maman!โ€. He scored a total of 203 points placing ahead of second-placed Armenia.

The Director General of the French public broadcaster has alreadyย confirmed that the broadcaster will host in 2023. France will be hosting the Junior Eurovision Song Contest for a second time, having first hosted the contest in 2021 in Paris.

Georgia has won the contest on three occasions, making them the country with the most victories throughout the history of the contest. Georgia debuted in JESC in 2007 with Mariam Romelashvili and her song โ€œOdelia Ranuniโ€, where she placed 4th with 116 points. Their first win was just a year later in 2008, with the trio Bzikebi and their song โ€œBzzโ€. Their second win was in 2011 with the group Candy and their song โ€œCandy Musicโ€. Most recently in 2016, eleven-year-old Mariam Mamadashvili performed her song โ€œMzeoโ€ in JESC 2016 host city Malta, and took the victory with 239 points.
