Six more artists have qualified for the final of Festival da Canção 2023, completing the line-up.
Tonight ten artists performed for their place in the final of Portugal’s Eurovision selection show. Hosting the show were Sónia Araújo and Jorge Gabriel, while Inês Lopes Gonçalves hosted the Green Room.
The results are as follows (qualifiers in bold):
- Edmundo Inácio – “A Festa” (The party)
- The Happy Mess – “O Impossível” (The impossible)
- Teresinha Landeiro – “Enquanto é tempo” (While it’s time)
- Bandua – “Bandeiras” (Flags)
- Bárbara Tinoco – “Goodnight”
- Inês Apenas – “Fim do Mundo” (The end of the world)
- Ivandro – “Povo” (People)
- Dapunksportif – “World Needs Therapy” – Public vote qualifier
- Voodoo Marmalade – “Tormento” (Torture)
The qualifiers were chosen across two rounds. In the first round, all ten artists were voted on by 50% public televote and 50% jury voting. The five acts that received the highest combined scores qualified. The televoting lines then re-opened, with a sixth artist saved by the public.

Portugal debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1964 represented by António Calvário. The country finished last scoring nul points. Prior to 2017, the best result of Portugal was 6th place which came in 1996 when Lúcia Moniz performed in Oslo. She scored 92 points, receiving 12 points from both Norway and Cyprus. Since their debut, Portugal have missed a total of five contests. In 2017, Portugal produced a spectacular win when Salvador Sobral took home the crystal microphone with his song “Amar pelos dois”. The 2018 contest was held in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon for the first time.
