Cyprus’ entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, United Kingdom, is expected to be released in January.
CyBC has stated in a news report regarding Andrew Lambrou’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, that the song is expected to be presented to the public in January. The January reveal date is considerably earlier than in recent years where Cyprus has revealed in late February or early March.
Speaking about the song that he will perform, he said to CyBC in an interview that:
“There was something about the song that drew me in”
The song has been recorded in Stockholm, Sweden in recent days. Jimmy Jansson, Thomas Stengaard, Jimmy Thörnfeldt and Marcus Winther-John have all worked on the song that will represent Cyprus next May.
Andrew Lambrou was born to Greek-Cypriot parents in Sydney, Australia. Earlier this year, he took part in Eurovision 2022: Australia Decides. He finished seventh with “Electrify”

Cyprus debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981. Their best result was in 2018, with Eleni Foureira and the performance of the song “Fuego” won second place with 436 points. Before then, their best results in the contest came in the form of three fifth-place finishes. In 2004, Lisa Andreas performed “Stronger Every Minute” in Istanbul, Turkey. She finished 5th in the final scoring 170 points, which included 12 points from Greece. They also placed fifth in 1997 with Hara & Andreas Constantinou and their song “Mana mou”, and in 1982 with Anna Vissi’s “Mono i agapi.” Cyprus withdrew from the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014 due to financial difficulties but returned again in 2015.
