Andrew Lambrou has traveled to Stockholm, Sweden to record his entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023.

Cyprus is recording its song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, United Kingdom. Eurovision Fun reports that Andrew Lambrou has traveled to Sweden to record his song for next May’s contest having traveled in the past day from Australia to Sweden.

CyBC has not revealed any details regarding the team behind Andrew Lambrou’s song for Eurovision, however, with the trip to Stockholm, it is expected that a Swedish team has written and produced the entry.

Andrew Lambrou was born to Greek-Cypriot parents in Sydney, Australia. Earlier this year, he took part in Eurovision 2022: Australia Decides. He finished seventh with “Electrify”.

Andromache represented Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with “Ela”. She finished 12th in the Second Semi-Final scoring a total of 63 points. Cyprus was 9th with the public on 54 points but was last with the jury scoring 9 points. This was the first time since 2013 that Cyprus had failed to qualify for the final.

Cyprus debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981. Their best result was in 2018, with Eleni Foureira and the performance of the song “Fuego” won second place with 436 points. Before then, their best results in the contest came in the form of three fifth-place finishes. In 2004, Lisa Andreas performed “Stronger Every Minute” in Istanbul, Turkey. She finished 5th in the final scoring 170 points, which included 12 points from Greece. They also placed fifth in 1997 with Hara & Andreas Constantinou and their song “Mana mou”, and in 1982 with Anna Vissi’s “Mono i agapi.” Cyprus withdrew from the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014 due to financial difficulties but returned again in 2015.
