The first live performance of the United Kingdom’s entry for Junior Eurovision 2022 will take place on November 18.
Freya Skye will give the first live performance of her song for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 during Children in Need. The performance will take place during the BBC Children in Need Appeal Night Show on November 18, which raises money for children and young people across the United Kingdom who are facing challenges. In 2021 over £39 million was raised.
The United Kingdom returns to the contest for the first time since 2005. In the three years that they competed between 2003-2005, their best result was 2nd place in 2004 with Cory Spedding’s “The Best Is Yet To Come”.
Freya was internally selected by the BBC to compete in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022. She will be performing “Lose My Head”, she said of her selection:
“I couldn’t believe it when I found out. I was not expecting it at all, it still doesn’t feel real that I’m going to be representing the UK. I feel so lucky to have been given the opportunity to be a part of something so exciting. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity so I’m going to go and give it my everything and I hope to do the UK proud.”

The United Kingdom were one of sixteen countries to take part in the first edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003. Tom Morley’s “My Song for The World” finished in 3rd place in Copenhagen. A year later, Cory Spedding brought home a 2nd place result with “The Best is Yet to Come”. Their last result before they withdrew was 14th place in 2005. In 2022, the country will return to the contest after a 17 year break.
