Nadir Rustamli who represented Azerbaijan at Eurovision 2022 has said he wants to return to the Eurovision Song Contest.
Speaking on social media Nadir Rustamli, the most recent artist to represent Azerbaijan at the Eurovision Song Contest has stated he would like to return to the competition. He said that:
” My followers started a social media campaign for a new participation in the contest. I didn’t want to represent my country right away the following year. But if my fans want it and the invitation comes through, I would like to participate again because I don’t want to fail my audience and my listeners”.
Nadir Rustamli represented Azerbaijan in Turin with “Fade to Black”, he is the only artist to qualify for the Grand Final scoring 0 points from the televote. In the Grand Final he finished 16th with a total of 106 points, 103 of which were from the jury and 3 from the televote.
Who is Nadir Rustamli?
Nadir Rashid oghlu Rustamli was born on 8th July 1999 in Salyan, Azerbaijan. At a young age, Nadir practiced the piano at the Gulu Asgarov Music School. In 2017, he began singing in numerous contests, including Youthvision 2019, where he finished second. In 2022, he won The Voice of Azerbaijan under Eldar Gasimov’s mentorship.
On February 16th 2022, Nadir found out he was selected as the Azerbaijani Eurovision 2022 representative live on morning television. His song “Fade to Black” was written and composed by Thomas Stengaard and Andreas Stone Johansson.

Azerbaijan debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008, they were represented by Elnur & Samir with the song “Day After Day”, they finished 8th in the final. In 2011 Azerbaijan won the Eurovision Song Contest represented by Ell & Nikki and their song “Running Scared”. The song scored a total of 221 points, receiving only three sets of 12 points from Malta, Russia and Turkey. In 2018 Azerbaijan failed to qualify for the final for the first time, having previously had a 100% qualification record.
