Today is the last day that songs can be submitted for the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022.
Today is the last day for young singers to submit their songs to represent Malta at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Yerevan, Armenia. Song submissions have been open since June 24. Some of the rules of the selection are as follows:
- All competing artists must be aged between 9 and 14 on December 11 2022.
- All competing artists must be Maltese nationals.
- All competing entries must be original songs and must not have been commercially released or publicly performed before May 1 2022.
- Songs must be in English and/or Maltese. Lyrics in other languages are welcome provided that they do not make up more than 40% of the lyrics.
- Up to six people can be on stage per song.

A professional jury nominated by PBS will select 16 songs to move on to the live final. The finalists will be announced on September 1. The live final will take place on October 2. The results of the final will be decided by a jury (75%) and public voting (25%). Only the results of the top three songs will be revealed. In case of a tie, the jury vote will take preference.
Ike & Kaya represented Malta at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with the song “My Home”. They finished 12th in the final with 97 points.

Malta debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003 and has gone on to win the contest twice. In 2013 on their return to the competition in Kyiv, Gaia Cauchi won the competition with “The Start”, she was the first winner of a Eurovision event for Malta. In 2015 Destiny Chukunyere took victory in Sofia, Bulgaria with the song “Not My Soul”. Malta finished last at the 2005 contest in Belgium and the 2019 edition in Poland.
