Eurovision.tv have announced that the Live-On-Tape back up performances from 2022 will be revealed starting from tomorrow. The performances will be released across the next 10 days on the official YouTube channel.
It is of note that a small number of yet unnamed broadcasters have opted for their backup performances to not be published, just as Ireland and the United Kingdom chose to last year. The eventual winning country Ukraine were the only countries exempt from supplying a backup performance due to the ongoing situation at home.
Unlike last year where the live-on-tape performances were revealed in a full online show “Eurovision Song Celebration” hosted by Krista Siegfrids the week after the contest, this year each performance will simply be available on its own through Eurovision’s official YouTube channel and other social media.
Yesterday, Montenegro’s artist Vladana revealed her live-on-tape performance on her YouTube channel, marking the second reveal prior to the official channel’s premiere after Ochman did the same for Poland.
The Live-On-Tape performances were a requirement for a second year running from all participating broadcasters for the 2022 contest. This was in order to ensure all countries could still participate regardless of challenges travelling to Turin through the pandemic, or in the event that the artists contracted COVID-19 during the contest.
Thankfully no delegation were required to use their backup performances this year as all delegations, including Australia were able to compete in person.
