The organisers of the AI Song Contest have announced that a Semi-Final round has been introduced for the 2022 contest.
For the first time in the history of the AI Song Contest, a Semi-Final will be held. The Semi-Final will see a jury select the top fifteen entries that will progress through to the final, where the winner will be determined by 50% jury voting and 50% public voting.
The decision to introduce a Semi-Final was taken due to increased interest in the contest. In addition, the organisers found that in 2021 only 1% of voters voted for more than 13 songs, by restricting the number of songs in the final round they hope to encourage every song to be listened to by the public.
Voting will open at the end of June with the results announced in a live broadcast in July.
In 2020 a total of 13 entries competed with Uncanny Valley from Australia taking victory with “Beautiful the World”. In 2021, 38 entries competed from eighteen countries the winner was M.O.G.I.I.7.E.D. with the song “Listen to Your Body Choir”.
