Madrid has also expressed interest in hosting Eurovision 2023 if Chanel wins tomorrow’s Grand Final.
Begoña Villacís, vice-mayor of Madrid, has stated that Madrid should host Eurovision 2023 if Spain wins the 2022 contest. She explained:
“I want Chanel to win and for her to bring the contest to the capital. Very good things are happening in Madrid and the only thing missing is this contest. We deserve to be the host city and we are more capable of doing it. We have really good infrastructure to host the contest.
It is a welcoming city. Wherever you come from, you can come here and feel at home. Madrid is a city that welcomed Chanel and all the Chanels in the world.”
Madrid previously hosted Eurovision 1969 and hosts the yearly Eurovision-Spain PreParty. Madrid is not the first city to expressing interest in hosting if Spain wins. Valencia has also expressed interest.
Who is Chanel?
Chanel Terrero was born on 28th July 1991 in Havana, Cuba. Her family relocated to Olesa de Montserrat in Catalonia, Spain when Chanel was 3 years old. The singer has been performing since 2009 and has an extensive history of performing in the Theatre. Some notable musicals she has performed in include Mamma Mia!, Tarzán, Malinche, Fiebre Hamilton, and Flashdance. She also has some television credits to her name, having featured in 236 episodes of Gym Tony, 238 episodes of La peluquería, and countless other TV series.

Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest
Spain debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961 and has competed annually since. Spain has won the contest on two occasions the first being in 1968 and the second time in 1969. 1969 is the only year where more than one song has won the contest. The 1969 contest saw a four-way tie between Spain, France, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Since 2000 Spain has only managed to finish in the top 10 on five occasions, the last time being in 2014 with Ruth Lorenzo. However, the country has finished 20th or below on ten occasions, the worst placement being 26th in 2017.
