Slovensko Novice reports that the disco ball that forms the backdrop of the Slovenian performance for Eurovision 2022 was meant to play a bigger part in their staging.
According to Slovensko Novice the Slovenian delegation has confirmed that the disco ball which is centre stage in LPS’s performance was meant to be an even bigger feature of the performance. The delegation had hoped that the ball would descend from the roof of the arena slowly spinning before ending in the middle of the stage.
In addition had been hoped that the kinetic sun and its associated lighting would light up the disco ball and as a result light up the entire arena. However due to the fact the kinetic sun will not move during any of the performance this is no longer possible.
Slovenia are performing 5th in the first Semi-Final with “Disko”.
Who are LPS?
LPS (Last Pizza Slice) is a band from Celje, Slovenia. The group, which was formed in 2018 at the Grammar School Celje-Centre, is made up of Filip Vidušin (vocals), Gašper Hlupič (drums), Mark Semeja (electric guitar), Zala Velenšek (bass guitar, tenor, alto saxophone), and Žiga Žvižej (electric keyboard).

Slovenia was one of three countries to join the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993. The country qualified through a specially organised selection round called “Kvalifikacija za Millstreet” which was hosted in Slovenia, seven countries competed for three spots in Eurovision 1993. The country has participated in 22 editions of the Eurovision Song Contest. Their best result came in 1995 when Darja Švajger finished 7th scoring a total of 84 points, she is closely followed by Nuša Derenda who finished 7th in the 2001 contest with 70 points.
