Head of Delegation Evi Papamichael has revealed that there will be some minor changes made for Andromache’s second rehearsal.
Speaking on SKAI yesterday, Evi Papamichael the Head of Delegation for Cyprus discussed how rehearsals have been going in Turin. In the interview she explained that:
The rehearsals are done to see what will change. We have requested changes in terms of shots, camera angles and some lighting issues.
Regarding the unique shell prop that forms the backbone of the Cypriot performance, Ms Papamichael added:
It has extensions and the waves of the sea next to it. It is made different, more modern and you have to play with the lights to see that it is a shell. It is a meeting of Aphrodite of Botticelli and Aphrodite who was born in Cyprus.
Who is Andromache?
Andromache Dimitropoulou, simply known as Andromache, was born in 1994 in Siegen, Germany. She rose to fame in 2015, when she participated in the Greek version of The Voice. Even though she was eliminated in the second live show, she immediately became a huge star in Greece. Among her singles, the most successful ones are “Na Soun Psema” and “To Feggari”.
In March 2022, she was revealed as Cyprus’ Eurovision 2022 representative after being internally selected by CyBC. She will sing “Ela”, a song composed by Alex P, Arash, Eyelar Mirzazadeh, Fatjon Miftaraj, Filloreta Raci Fifi, Geraldo Sandell, Giorgos Papadopoulos, Robert Uhlmann, Viktor Svensson and Yll Limani.

Cyprus debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981. Their best result was in 2018, with Eleni Foureira and the performance of the song “Fuego” won second place with 436 points. Before then, their best results in the contest came in the form of three fifth-place finishes. In 2004, Lisa Andreas performed “Stronger Every Minute” in Istanbul, Turkey. She finished 5th in the final scoring 170 points, which included 12 points from Greece. They also placed fifth in 1997 with Hara & Andreas Constantinou and their song “Mana mou”, and in 1982 with Anna Vissi’s “Mono i agapi.” Cyprus withdrew from the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014 due to financial difficulties but returned again in 2015.
