In an interview with Italian media outlet “La Stampa”, Emanuele Cristofoli announced that he will be the artistic director for the opening and the interval acts of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin.
Emanuele Cristofoli, also known as “Laccio” is a dancer and coreographer. He was the artistic director behind Raffaella Carrà’s tribute at the Sanremo Festival and he also directed Måneskin’s performance on Saturday Night Live.
In the interview, Cristofoli explained what we can expect from the semi finals:
“The opening of the first semifinal will convey empathy and augmented reality with the images of the planets projected in the audience with more than 40 dancers will pay homage to the sun as a symbol of joy, life and hope.”
During Second Semi Final the viewers will get an ironic glimpse into Italian mentality and stereotypes, presented by Alessandro Cattelan.
The opening act of the Grand Final however will begin from the Piazza San Carlo. Emanuele Cristofoli added that there will be a lot of scene changes during the interval. Furthermore, Mika who is co-hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 is expected to present their new single besides performing a medley.
The Eurovision Song Contest returns to Italy this year following Måneskin’s victory at the 2021 contest with their song “Zitti e Buoni”. The 2022 contest will be hosted on 10th, 12th, and 14th May at the PalaOlimpico in Turin. The contest was last held in Italy in 1991.
