🇸🇪 Sweden: Cornelia Jakobs Promotes in Lithuania

Cornelia Jakobs, the Swedish entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, is promoting her entry in Lithuania.

Cornelia appeared on the LRT morning show Labas rytas, Lietuva to talk about how life has been since winning Melodifestivalen, the reaction to “Hold Me Closer” and upcoming music.

Cornelia will perform 17th in the second semi-final on May 12.

Who is Cornelia Jakobs?

Anna Cornelia Jakobsdotter Samuelsson, also known as Cornelia Jakobs, was born on 9th March 1992 in Stockholm, Sweden. The singer made her music debut in 2008 when she auditioned for Swedish Idol. Her career took off a few years later when she joined Love Generation. The girl group took part in Melodifestivalen 2011 and 2012, with their 2011 entry “Dance Alone” making the Swedish charts.

Cornelia has written and composed numerous songs, including Efraim Leo’s Melodifestivalen 2021 song “Best of Me”. A year prior she composed and performed “Weight of The World”, the soundtrack for the HBO series Björnstad.

Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest

Sweden debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1958 and has gone on to be one of the contest’s most successful countries. The country has won the contest six times, the most recent being in 2015. Sweden’s first victory came in 1974 when ABBA won the contest in Brighton with “Waterloo”. Since missing out on the final in 2010, Sweden has gone on to finish 3rd twice and has won the contest twice, only in 2013 did the country place outside of the top 10 in the final.
