RAI has announced this evening that Diodato will be the interval act for Semi-Final One of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.
Diodato will get his moment at the Eurovision Song Contest, with the singer announced as the interval act for Semi-Final One. Diodato won Sanremo 2020 and was due to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest with “Fai rumore” before the contest was cancelled due to COVID-19.
His song “Fai rumore” went on to become an anthem of the pandemic and COVID-19 lockdown in Italy. The song was sung from balconies and windows across Italy during the first weeks of the pandemic bringing communities together.
The Eurovision Song Contest returns to Italy this year following Måneskin’s victory at the 2021 contest with their song “Zitti e Buoni”. The 2022 contest will be hosted on 10th, 12th, and 14th May at the PalaOlimpico in Turin. The contest was last held in Italy in 1991.
