Marius Bear has performed “Boys Do Cry”, his entry for the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, live for the first time.
Last night Marius Bear gave his first live performance of “Boys Do Cry”, the song that he will take to the Eurovision Song Contest for Switzerland. His song was released on March 8th, but hadn’t been heard live up to this point. His performance was part of a wider showcase performance for the Italian language Swiss broadcaster RSI.

Marius Bear will perform “Boys Do Cry” in 4th position in Semi-Final One on May 10th.
Who is Marius Bear?
Marius Bear is 28 years old and comes from Appenzell Innerrhoden in eastern Switzerland. In 2019, he won the Best Talent award at the Swiss Music Awards. He also released his debut album “Not Loud Enough” that same year. In 2020, he released a cover of the Whitney Houston song “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” after performing it on the TV show I Can See Your Voice. This cover currently has over 3.4 million streams on Spotify.
Marius Bear was selected to represent Switzerland by two juries; a 100-person panel made up of Swiss viewers and an international Eurovision Expert jury, which was made up of people who have either competed as a singer or a songwriter or have been a member of a national jury at Eurovision. Each jury made up 50% of the total result.

Switzerland hosted the first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 a contest that they won. Lys Assia won the first contest with the song “Refrain”, it wasn’t until 1988 that Switzerland would win the contest again. At the contest in Dublin, it was Celine Dion with “Ne partez pas sans moi” who beat the United Kingdom to victory by just 1 point. In 2021 Switzerland finished 3rd with Gjon’s Tears. This was Switzerland’s first top three result since 1993.
