Achillle Lauro, who is rerpesenting San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, has pulled out of the Barcelona Eurovision Party.
Achille Lauro has been forced to pull out of the Barcelona Eurovision Party, which is taking place tonight, due to a Covid-19 case in his team. Achille explained on his Instagram account:
“I am sorry to report that tonight I will not be able to perform at the Sala Apolo in Barcelona due to a Covid case within my staff and my band who were unable to leave with me. I only heard the news this morning as we are leaving for Barcelona. See you at Eurovision.”
It is unknown whether this Covid-19 case will affect Achille Lauro’s appearances at other pre-parties. He is due to perform at Eurovision in Concert in Amsterdam on April 9.
Achille first participated in Italy’s Sanremo Music Festival in 2019 with the song “Rolls Royce”, which went to #4 in the charts and went certified platinum in Italy. He returned to the competition a year later with “Me ne frego”, and once more in 2022 with “Domenica”. Less than two weeks later he went on to compete in the Sanmarinese selection with the song “Stripper”.
Achille Lauro will compete in the first half of the second semi-final on May 12.

San Marino in the Eurovision Song Contest
San Marino debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 alongside Azerbaijan. On their debut they were represented by Miodio and the song “Complice”, and finished last in their semi final with just 5 points. San Marino withdrew from the contest before returning again in 2011. Since then the country has participated annually and in 2014 qualified for their first final. The nation’s worst result came in 2017 when Valentina Monetta represented San Marino for the fourth time alongside Jimmie Wilson with “Spirit of the Night.” The pair finished last in their semi-final with just 1 point.
