Swiss media are reporting that Marius Bear has been selected to represent Switzerland at Eurovision 2022 in Turin.
According to Blick, Marius Bear will represent Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. Marius will release his new album “Boys Do Cry” at the end of March. He has also announced that his new single will be released tomorrow, which is an unusual day to release new music. His tour is scheduled to end on April 28, two days before the Swiss delegation is scheduled to travel to Turin. Marius has also been spotted filming with Jean-Marc Richard, Eurovision commentator for the French-language Swiss channel RTS.
Marius Bear is 28 years old and comes from Appenzell Innerrhoden in eastern Switzerland. In 2019, he won the Best Talent award at the Swiss Music Awards. He also released his debut album “Not Loud Enough” that same year. In 2020, he released a cover of the Whitney Houston song “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” after performing it on the TV show I Can See Your Voice. This cover currently has over 3.4 million streams on Spotify.
The Swiss entry for Eurovision 2022 will be revealed tomorrow at 13:00 CET on the official Eurovision Youtube channel. The entry was chosen by two juries; a 100-person panel made up of Swiss viewers and an international Eurovision Expert jury, which was made up of people who have either competed as a singer or a songwriter or have been a member of a national jury at Eurovision. Each jury made up 50% of the total result.

Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest
Switzerland hosted the first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 a contest that they won. Lys Assia won the first contest with the song “Refrain”, it wasn’t until 1988 that Switzerland would win the contest again. At the contest in Dublin, it was Celine Dion with “Ne partez pas sans moi” who beat the United Kingdom to victory by just 1 point. In 2021 Switzerland finished 3rd with Gjon’s Tears. This was Switzerland’s first top three result since 1993.
