CyBC has announced this morning that the Cypriot representative and song for Eurovision 2022 will be revealed on March 9.
Cyprus will reveal its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 on Wednesday, March 9. The reveal will take place on RIK at 15:30 CET, where the artist, songwriting team and song will be revealed to the public for the first time.
According to Cypriot media Andromachi will be representing Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. According to Lifenewscy, the song that she will perform in Turin was recorded earlier this week in Athens. The song has been composed by Alex P and George Papadopoulos. It is reported that the song will have strong ethnic elements including the use of the bouzouki.
Last year, Elena Tsagrinou represented Cyprus in Rotterdam with the song “El Diablo”. She ended up on 16th place, with a total of 94 points, 50 from the professional juries and 44 from the televoting.

Cyprus debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981. Their best result was in 2018, with Eleni Foureira and the performance of the song “Fuego” won second place with 436 points. Before then, their best results in the contest came in the form of three fifth-place finishes. In 2004, Lisa Andreas performed “Stronger Every Minute” in Istanbul, Turkey. She finished 5th in the final scoring 170 points, which included 12 points from Greece. They also placed fifth in 1997 with Hara & Andreas Constantinou and their song “Mana mou”, and in 1982 with Anna Vissi’s “Mono i agapi.” Cyprus withdrew from the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014 due to financial difficulties but returned again in 2015.
