Vladana Vučinić, the Montenegrin representative for Eurovision Song Contest 2022, has released her song “Breathe”. The song was performed for the first time in the television event “Montenegro, dodici punti”.
Vladana was first announced on the 4th of January as the artist that will wave the Montenegrin flag in Italy. Later that same day Vladana herself posted a video on Instagram, saying she will sing “Breathe” in Turin. She participated in the national selections that were organised in 2005 and 2006 in order to represent Serbia and Montenegro, but without much success.
The song “Breathe” was written by Vladana and Darko Dimitrov. Darko is best known as a producer, working with the biggest names of Macedonian and regional music scene in the last 30 years. He produced and wrote several Eurovision songs prior to this one, including Tamara Todevska’s “Proud” and Hurricane’s “Loco Loco”.
On the 6th of February, it was revealed that filming for the music video would begin in the following days. Director Gojko Berkuljan explained that strong visuals and metaphorical elements will bring out the message of the song.
The song premiered on RTCG’s show specifically made for this occasion. Vladana was joined by Andrea Koevska (North Macedonia, Eurovision 2022), Luka Vojvodić (Serbia and Montenegro, Eurovision 2005 and Montenegro, Eurovision 2016), Nina Žižić (Montenegro, Eurovision 2013), Knez (Montenegro 2015) and Tamara Vujačić (Montenegro, Eurovision 2019).
Vladana will perform her song at the final of Selectia Nationala on the 5th of March, as well as at the Spanish pre-party in Barcelona in April. In Turin, she will perform in the second half of the second semi-final.

Montenegro debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest as an independent country in 2007, and participated until 2010 when they withdrew for financial reasons. They returned to the contest in 2012, and since then have always chosen their entry internally. Montenegro failed to qualify for the grand final until 2014, when Sergej Ćetković and his song “Moj svijet” placed 19th in the final. Their best result came a year later, when Knez performed “Adio” in Vienna. They have never reached the top 10, with Knez reaching 13th out of 27 countries.
