The fifth artist in our Who Is series for Eurovision 2022 is Chanel from Spain.
Chanel Terrero was born on 28th July 1991 in Havana, Cuba. Her family relocated to Olesa de Montserrat in Catalonia, Spain when Chanel was 3 years old. The singer has been performing since 2009 and has an extensive history of performing in the Theatre. Some notable musicals she has performed in include Mamma Mia!, Tarzán, Malinche, Fiebre Hamilton, and Flashdance. She also has some television credits to her name, having featured in 236 episodes of Gym Tony, 238 episodes of La peluquería, and countless other TV series’.
Chanel was chosen to represent Spain following her victory in Benidorm Fest. She will sing “SloMo” in the Grand Final on 14th May. Her song was written by Leroy Sanchez, Keith Harris, Ibere Fortes, Maggie Szabo and Arjen Thonen.

Spain debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961 and has competed annually since. Spain has won the contest on two occasions the first being in 1968 and the second time in 1969. 1969 is the only year where more than one song has won the contest. The 1969 contest saw a four-way tie between Spain, France, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Since 2000 Spain has only managed to finish in the top 10 on five occasions, the last time being in 2014 with Ruth Lorenzo. However, the country has finished 20th or below on ten occasions, the worst placement being 26th in 2017.
