The Government of Italy is allocating over €1 million towards Turin’s hosting of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.
The Mayor of Turin has announced that the Italian Government will be providing €1.5 Million in funding to help the city to host the Eurovision Song Contest. Mr Lo Russo explained that:
(The Minister of Tourism) informed me of the government’s willingness to contribute, having also grasped the importance of this event for the national image.
The Mayor of Turin had worked with Members of Parliament from Piedmont to secure the funding for the contest in May. The money will be used to cover promotional costs associated with the Eurovision Song Contest.
The Eurovision Song Contest returns to Italy this year following Måneskin’s victory at the 2021 contest with their song “Zitti e Buoni”. The 2022 contest will be hosted in Turin on 10th, 12th, and 14th May at the PalaOlimpico. The contest was last held in Italy in 1991.
