The fourth artist in our Who Is series for Eurovision 2022 is Zdob şi Zdub & Fraţii Advahov from Moldova.
Zdob şi Zdub return to represent Moldova this year for the third time, having graced the Eurovision stage in 2005 and 2011. Their first appearance at the contest was also the first time Moldova took part, with the band finishing in 6th place in the Final with “Boonika Bate Toba”.
They returned in 2011 with “So Lucky”, which gave them a respectable 12th place result.
The group was formed in 1994 and has an extensive performance history, having played at countless gigs and festivals over the years.
This year the band will be joined by Frații Advahov, two folk musicians. They were selected to represent Moldova at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest following an auditions round held by Moldovan broadcaster TRM, in which a jury panel chose their winner. They will sing “Trenulețul”.

Moldova debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 when the contest was held in Kyiv, Ukraine. That year, Bulgaria also debuted in the contest and Hungary returned after a long absence since 1998. Moldova’s best result in the contest to date was 3rd place in 2017 for Sunstroke Project with “Hey Mamma!”, this was the second time the group had represented their country in Eurovision.
