Spain will be one of the countries part of this year’s international jury at UMK 2022 which will determine the Finnish entry for Eurovision 2022.
As part of the TEN TV deal to broadcast UMK 2022 which will allow Spanish viewers to enjoy UMK 2022 on television, Spain will also be part of this year’s UMK international jury. As with last year’s contest, the Finnish entry for Eurovision 2022 will be chosen by international juries (25%) and public voting (75%).
The Spanish jury will be formed of three Spanish artists and one member of TEN TV, one of the jurors will also act as the spokesperson to present their vote during UMK. The members of the jury will only be published after UMK 2022 has concluded. It is not yet known which other nations will be part of the international jury.
The UMK 2022 participants and entries are:
- Cyan Kicks – “Hurricane”
- BESS – “Ram pam pam”
- The Rasmus – “Jezebel”
- Younghearted – “Sun numero” (Your number)
- Olivera – “Thank God I’m an Atheist”
- Tommi Läntinen – “Elämä kantaa mua” (Life carries me)
- Isaac Sene – “Kuuma jäbä” (Hot dude)
Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) 2022 will take place in the Logomo arena and conference centre in Turku, Finland’s sixth-largest city, on February 26. For the past two editions, UMK had been hosted in the Mediapolis Studios in Tampere. Logomo previously hosted UMK in 2019, when Finland decided upon the song “Look Away” for Darude feat. Finland first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961, they debuted alongside Spain and Yugoslavia. Finland has finished last in the contest on 10 occasions and has received ‘nul points’ three times. It wasn’t until 2006 that Finland won the Eurovision Song Contest. Lordi represented the country in Athens with the song “Hard Rock Hallelujah” scoring 292 points, a record total at the time.
