Sophia Ivanko who represented Ukraine at Junior Eurovision 2019 is in the running to compete in Vidbir 2022.

Ukraine’s 2019 Junior Eurovision representative Sophia Ivanko has announced that she is trying to represent her country at Eurovision 2022. Sophia previously represented her country at the children’s version of Eurovision with “The Spirit of Music” which finished 15th out of 19 countries.

Suspilne had previously announced that past X Factor, Voice and Junior Eurovision participants are among the singers to have submitted songs into the Ukrainian selection.

Vidbir is set to be held in February, with the Ukrainian representative being chosen by a combination of public and jury voting. The Ukrainian broadcaster Suspilne has taken over the organisation of the nations Eurovision selection from STB after a partnership since 2016 ended.

Go_A finished 5th in the Grand Final of Eurovision 2021 scoring a total of 364 points. “Shum” has gone viral globally and became the first-ever Ukrainian song to enter the Billboard charts. Ukraine was the public’s second favorite with 267 points.

Ukraine first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2003, when Oleksandr Ponomariov performed “Hasta la vista”. The following year Ruslana brought the country their first win with the song “Wild Dances”. It was a feat that would be replicated in 2016 by Jamala with her song “1944”; her emotionally charged song scored a record 534 points to take victory in Stockholm. In 2017 O.Torvald represented the country on home soil with the song “Time”. The group finished in 24th place, Ukraine’s worst result at the contest to date.
