The first phase of Una Voce Per San Marino concluded on Friday, after a week of auditions.

The first week of the auditions round for the ‘Emerging Artists’ category of Una Voce Per San Marino concluded on Friday. Five days of castings were held in San Marino, however, San Marino RTV has confirmed that applications to take part remain open.

Singers interested in competing in the San Marinese national selection have until January 8 to apply on the Una Voce Per San Marino website. The second round of castings will be held in San Marino from January 3 to 11.

In February 2022, a series of semi-finals and a final will decide the nine acts that will move on to the Grand Final. The emerging artists classified in the top 3 will receive cash prizes of €1000, €2000 and €7000 respectively.

The Grand Final will take place on February 19 2022 in the Teatro Nuovo in Dogana. A total of 18 artists will participate in the final; nine Emerging artists and nine Big artists, who will be directly invited by Media Evolution Srl. A jury will decide the winner and also second and third place.

San Marino debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 alongside Azerbaijan. On their debut they were represented by Miodio and the song “Complice”, and finished last in their semi final with just 5 points. San Marino withdrew from the contest before returning again in 2011. Since then the country has participated annually and in 2014 qualified for their first final. The nations worst result came in 2017 when Valentina Monetta represented San Marino for the fourth time alongside Jimmie Wilson with “Spirit of the Night.” The pair finished last in their semi-final with just 1 point.
