Luna Ki is at risk of being disqualified from Benidorm Fest for performing her song at a concert in 2020.

Formula TV reports that Luna Ki is at risk of being disqualified from the Spanish selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. It has been found that “Voy a morir”, their entry for Benidorm Fest was performed at a concert in Barcelona on September 4, 2020.

The rules of Benidorm Fest state that:

the songs must be original, and not have been published, performed or distributed , in whole or in part, before September 1, 2021.

RTVE has confirmed to Formula TV that they are currently investigating the matter and will announce whether or not they will take action soon.

There is a chance that RTVE may allow Luna Ki to remain in the selection with their song. A number of songs in selections and at the Eurovision Song Contest including “Reqiuem” (France 2017) and “1944” (Ukraine 2016) were performed in concerts before the deadline for songs to be eligible.

Spain debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961 and has competed annually since. Spain has won the contest on two occasions the first being in 1968 and the second time in 1969. 1969 is the only year where more than one song has won the contest. The 1969 contest saw a four-way tie between Spain, France, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Since 2000 Spain has only managed to finish in the top 10 on five occasions, the last time being in 2014 with Ruth Lorenzo. However, the country has finished 20th or below on ten occasions, the worst placement being 26th in 2017.
