Kalomira and her record label are reported to have begun talks regarding representing Cyprus at Eurovision 2022.
Following the surprise non-participation of Kalomira in the Greek selection process, the singer and her management have moved their focus to Cyprus. According to ZNews, the singer has commenced discussions with CyBC regarding participating in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.
However, there is reported to be two stumbling blocks to the idea of Kalomira representing Cyprus. The first being persons at the Cypriot broadcaster who wish to see a Cypriot represent the nation at Eurovision instead of non-Cypriots as has been the case since 2018. Furthermore, ZNews reports that CyBC wants its entry to be partially written by a Cypriot national, currently, Kalomira has created two songs for Eurovision that have no Cypriot involvement.
Kalomira successfully represented Greece in 2008 with the song Secret Combination which ended finishing in 3rd place. She has been working to return to the contest for a number of years and most recently was in discussions with Cyprus in 2020.

Cyprus debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981. Their best result was in 2018, with Eleni Foureira and the performance of the song “Fuego” won second place with 436 points. Before then, their best results in the contest came in the form of three fifth-place finishes. In 2004, Lisa Andreas performed “Stronger Every Minute” in Istanbul, Turkey. She finished 5th in the final scoring 170 points, which included 12 points from Greece. They also placed fifth in 1997 with Hara & Andreas Constantinou and their song “Mana mou”, and in 1982 with Anna Vissi’s “Mono i agapi.” Cyprus withdrew from the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014 due to financial difficulties but returned again in 2015.
