🇷🇺 Russia: Auditions Underway For Junior Eurovision 2021

Auditions have taken place today in Moscow for the Russian selection for Junior Eurovision 2021.

The Music Academy of Igor Krutoy is hosting auditions today in Moscow to determine the singers that will compete to represent Russia at Junior Eurovision 2021. Posts on social media show auditions taking place in Moscow with a jury assessing each of the performers. A variety of acts have made it through to the auditions from groups to duets and solo singers.

Following the auditions, the finalists that will progress to the televised national selection will be revealed. The final is set to be held in October or November, the winner will be determined by 50% online public vote and 50% jury voting.

Russia placed 10th in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 represented by Sofia Feskova. Russia was 10th with both the public and juries scoring exactly 44 points from each vote.

Russia made their debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 and has participated in the contest every year since. The country won the contest for the first time in 2006 when they were represented by the Tolmachevy Twins with the song “Vesenniy jazz”, who scored a total of 154 points. Russia had never finished outside of the top 10 in their time at the contest until 2019, and have finished second twice, fourth four times, and fifth once. At the 2017 contest in Georgia, Russia won the contest for a second time represented by Polina Bogusevich and “Wings”.
