The management of the singer Mika has denied that he is in the running to present the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Italy.
The British-Lebanese singer Mika is not in contention to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. Speaking to Rockol.it the singers’ management stated that the “rumors were without foundation”, the singer has previously spoken negatively regarding the contest during the past decade.
Mika is known in Italy for his role as a judge on the X Factor Italy having appeared in four series of the show, he has also presented his own TV series and released a number of albums in the country.
The singer revealed in 2015 that he had been approached by the BBC to compete in Eurovision four times. In an interview in the same year with RTL in France, the singer was asked about whether he would compete in the contest, he told the present no adding that:
“Because most of the entries sent to the contest are shameful, they are pure sh*t!”
Italy is set to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, eleven cities are currently bidding to host the competition with RAI set to select the host city this month.

Italy debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 and has participated a total of 42 times to date. Italy returned to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011 having last participated in the contest in 1997, the country has withdrawn from the contest on a number of occasions in the past. Italy has won the contest three times, the first time being in 1964 and the latest being in 2021. Italy’s hosting of the contest in 1991 has been remembered as one of the most chaotic contests to date. Since their return in 2011 Italy has finished in the top 10 on eight occasions.
