Amadeus will once again be the host and Artistic Director of Sanremo, marking the third contest he takes on the role.
RAI has confirmed that Amadeus will once more host and artistic director the Sanremo Song Festival, marking the third time in a row that Amadeus holds the role. Amadeus took over the role of lead Artistic Director of Sanremo in 2020, replacing Claudio Baglioni.
The 2022 Festival della canzone italiana di Sanremo is due to take place in the first week of February from the 1st to the 5th. It was revealed during a press conference in June that the Sanremo hosts will not be the same as the hosts of the upcoming Eurovision Song contest 2022 which Italian broadcaster Rai is also organising.
The 2021 edition festival took place at a later date to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, with the hope that conditions would have been better to allow for a live audience, however by February 2021 was confirmed that no live audience would be present. It is unknown what kind of restrictions will be in place for the 2022 edition of Sanremo.
