Liet International, the song contest for minority languages in Europe, returns in 2022 having last been held in 2018.
Tønder/Tondern in Denmark will host the 2022 edition of Liet International, as the contest returns after two cancelled editions of the competition. This will be the 13th edition of the contest which was held for the first time in 2002.
The contest is set to be held on 13 May 2022 at the Schweizerhalle. A total of 13 entries will be allowed to compete in the contest with the submissions window for the contest open now until 31 October. Once the submissions window closes the lineup will be determined by a jury in November. Full rules for the contest can be found here.
Four of the songs will be selected through specific criteria or contests, while nine spots will be open:
- One entry will be selected in the Frisian minority contest Liet 2021
- One will be a contestant representing the German minority in Denmark
- One representing the Frisian minority in Germany
- One representing the Danish minority in Germany
The winner of Liet 2022 will win 3,000 Euro, with the song with the best song winning 500 Euro. These are all chosen by an expert jury.
