Ana Soklič has revealed that she will be performing across “multiple stages” for her performance in Rotterdam.
In an interview with the RTVSLO show Dobro Jutro (Good Morning) the Slovenian participant Ana Soklič has given a little more information about what we can expect from her performance in Rotterdam.
She said that she was not able to give much information, showing that the Slovenian delegation are keeping their cards close to their chests before rehearsals get underway this Saturday (8th May). Ana has said that she will “not only be standing on one stage, but on several stages”.
In the interview she also spoke of her emotions as she prepared to leave for Rotterdam for 10 days of intensive preparations before her semi-final performance, saying that she will “intertwine fear, excitement, excitement. I hope that on the day of the performance there will be the right mix of everything, that it will be put together as it should be.” Finally, she stated that what was most important to her was that she would be proud and happy with her performance.
Ana is set to perform her ballad “Amen” in the first semi-final on Tuesday 18th May. She is performing second in the running order and is hoping to follow in the footsteps of recent Slovenian qualifiers Lea Sirk and Zala & Gaspar. She will be joined on stage by renowned Slovenian vocalist Karin Zemljič, who has provided backing vocals for a number of previous Slovenian participants.
Her first taste of the stage will be her first rehearsal on Saturday 8th May.
Who is Ana Soklic?
Ana Soklič was born in 1984 in Bohinj in northwestern Slovenia. From a young age, Anna Soklič developed and refined her musical skills at the local opera and jazz academy, before she started to write her own music. She was the lead singer of Diona Dim, with whom she previously tried to represent Slovenia in 2004 with the song “If you” and in 2007 with the song “Oče” (Father). In 2012, she participated the first and so far only series of X Factor Slovenia, where she finished fifth overall. In 2019, she participated in the Slovenka popevka festival with the song “Temni svet” (Dark world) and finished 10th overall.

Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest
Slovenia was one of three countries to join the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993. The country qualified through a specially organised selection round called “Kvalifikacija za Millstreet” which was hosted in Slovenia, seven countries competed for three spots in Eurovision 1993. The country has participated in 22 editions of the Eurovision Song Contest. Their best result came in 1995 when Darja Švajger finished 7th scoring a total of 84 points, she is closely followed by Nuša Derenda who finished 7th in the 2001 contest with 70 points.
